Developmental quotient of specialist's degree students and bachelor's program students

Abstract

Switching to higher education level system is the result of a significant change in terms and content of education and of its standards for evaluation. Consider research results of the educational process in terms of students development level. Research conducted on the basis of experimental data obtained by testing specialist's degree students and. It was established that all of the numerical values indicators of development for the Bachelor's program students is less than specialist's degree students. Rank correlation analysis of development indicators found that the correlation between the profile of the Bachelor's program students and specialist's degree students is statistically significant.

Problem of psychological and psycholinguistic model validity

Abstract

In the paper the problem of validity of psychological and psycholinguistic models is discussed. The ontological and operational approaches to the validity of models are analyzed, representatives of which propose various criteria to the model validity. The requirements to the psychological and psycholinguistic models are given. The examples of psychological and psycholinguistic models are analyzed in order to verify their validity. Psychological modeling does not mean the exact correspondence of the model and its original. It combines the criteria of different approaches.

Structural and semantic forms of verbal behavior in cross-cultural communication

Abstract

In the article the contracted forms of communication such as monorhemes as means of cross-cultural communication are analised. The given form of phrases are characterised by all the features typical to full sentences considering its structure, semantics and psychological properties. The carried empirical cross-cultural study allows to say that the use of monorhemes as the reactive contracted forms of dialogue depends on the level of language and national culture as well as individual characteristics of speakers.

Recommended types of texts for bachelor degree foreign language syllabus on the basis of russian state standards for higher vocational education

Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of the transition to the two-tier system of higher education in the Russian Federation, consisting of Bachelor and Master degrees. Goals and tasks of foreign language teaching at the first level of higher education - bachelor- are listed. Based on the mentioned goals, tasks, as well as competences, that every Bachelor student should possess, sample lists of texts for teaching all aspect of the language are given. A brief description of each of the four aspects of learning with their distinguishing features is mentioned. A list of the texts required for training each of the types of speech activity (reading, listening, speaking, writing) is given. From the authors’ point of view, these types of texts as much as possible reflect the content of the language education of undergraduates in accordance with Federal State Educational Standard of the third generation. At the end of the article the authors conclude that those professionally oriented sample-texts containing the necessary vocabulary for each of the specialties, designed not only to develop all kinds of speech activity, but also serve as a basis for further self-development of an existing level of foreign language and its application in real-life communication (both business and living environment) of the students and graduates of the Bachelor Degree.

Concepts of emotions in the english language from a cognitive-psychological perspective

Abstract

The article deals with the study of the characteristic features of cognitive psychology as a science of human interaction with the reality. The humans’ desire to gain some valuable things and their understanding of capabilities to implement this desire determine the occurrence of a certain emotion, prompting people to action. The cognitive content of the emotion of fear is a situation in which an individual predicts the probable damage and at the same time he hasn’t enough resources or ability to avoid this damage. The intensity of any emotion is determined by two factors: the amount of the predicted damage and the degree of its probability. The characteristic features of English linguacultural concepts of basic emotions are analyzed (the “fear” concept is taken as an example) and a typical scenario of a situation in which they arise is given.

Quality evaluation of learning math tests

Abstract

In present days modern computer tools and information technologies implementation in educational process are widespread. The main purpose of computer-based testing shifted from the assessment instrument of learning outcomes to the purpose of teaching. Performance criteria of learning mathematical tests are not yet studied properly. The objectives of the present work are: to formulate the performance criteria of learning math tests; to evaluate the relevance of achievement test performance criteria for the evaluation of learning test results. Learning math tests should be informative, valid, reliable, discriminative. The research subjects are test results in mathematical analysis 21 tests. Several methods of statistics are used (sample mean, sample standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, etc.) to study these criteria. We found out our tests informative, discriminative criterion, valid, nevertheless, we describe the tests at hand are not always have a high reliability.

The development of students’ communication competence to improve the effectivenessof foreign language learning

Abstract

The necessity of students’ communication skills development and their readiness to work with professional literature both in Russian and foreign languages is mentioned in the article. The theoretical analysis let us prove that the success of the process mentioned depends not only on knowledge and exercises but on the communicative abilities of a personality. The solving of the problem of developing student’s communication competence specifies an important role of cognitive problems in the process of dealing with scientific discourse encouraging making up of the personality which is ready for the future professional activity. Communicative-cognitive problems answer to this purpose. They are aimed at perception, understanding and creating discourse as the processes mentioned above require such mental operations as analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, specification, abstracting in the communication process.

Abstract

The paper deals with the creativity as the basis of thinking skills development in the process of cognitive learning activity. Understanding of the creativity and heuristics contents is analysed. The necessity of young generation creative learning development is explained as while studying different subjects and in any human activity creative elements can be come across. As a result, the authors come to the conclusion that the dramatic growth of information volume requires from the person such qualities as being active, initiative, flexible, inventive and also being able to make decisions quickly and correctly. That is impossible without being creative and independent while working.
