Abstract
The different interpretations of «competence» and «competency» concepts are analyzed in the article, taking into account the fact that achievement of full agreement on the right determination of competence is impossible because it is not the perfect truth. Professional criteria of competent engineer-graduating student of Technical institute of high education Heat Power Department are formulated.
